Diesel and Toby are two quarter horses who are twelve year old Kamryn Chapman’s 4-H projects. Kamryn was greatly anticipating this year’s Murray County Fair and the Horse Show that was held on Tuesday.
Chapman has been a member of Murray County 4-H, with the Bondin-Belfast Club, for the past three years. “I started showing both horses and rabbits, but I am showing just the horses this year,” Chapman stated. Her interest in showing horses was sparked by her friend, Kennedy Deuschle. “We used to just trail ride, but then Kennedy wanted to show horses and I decided that I wanted to do shows, also,” Chapman explained.
She keeps quite busy working with Diesel and Toby each day, providing their care, training, and grooming. She rides the horses every day – even the snowy days. “She is very much a horse lover,” Kamryn’s mother, Donna stated.
Diesel is 5 years of age. Chapman has been working for the past two years. He is trained to participate in the 4-H horse show games including barrel racing, keyhole jump, figure 8’s and pole weaving.
