Dr. Anita Talsma Gaul to present “The Not-So Invisible Nation: The KKK in Southwest Minnesota in the 1920’s”

Dr. Anita Talsma Gaul will be speaking  about the Ku Klux Klan in southwest Minnesota at the Murray County Historical Society Lunchbox Lecture on Thursday, March 12th. Her presentation is entitled “The Not-So Invisible Nation: The KKK in Southwest Minnesota in the 1920’s”. The event will be held at noon in the Murray County 4-H building on the fairgrounds, with a second presentation scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the Slayton Public Library.  The public is invited to attend.

Gaul, who is a professor of history at Minnesota West Technical College, will be sharing her knowledge of the local history of the KKK.

The KKK was a secret society  that dedicated itself to white supremacy in the United States, The organization has existed in various forms since it was first organized in Tennessee, shortly following the end of the Civil War.
