Fulda Ambulance is in need of more people who are willing to become Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) to serve the local area. Urgently needed are folks who work within Fulda during the daytime hours.
“We are currently filling nine daytime positions with four people and are definitely in need of more people to be EMTs with Fulda Ambulance,” Fulda Ambulance Association secretary, Julie Burchill, stated. “We do have a fall EMT class coming up and it begins on Sunday, September 15th, with a registration deadline of Sunday, September 8th. That portion of the course is 45 hours in length. The Completion is 115 hours. So it is a commitment! After completion of the class, participants will then have to test out and then meet the National Registry of EMT’s (NREMT), MN EMS Regulatory Board and is MN POST Board approved.”
Burchill pointed out that the Fulda area truly is blessed to have its own ambulance service and folks don’t have to wait the extra twenty minutes to half an hour for an ambulance from Worthington or Slayton to arrive on the scene of an injury of illness. “We definitely want to keep our Fulda Ambulance as a viable service to the residents of the area. To do that, we do need more personnel,” Burchill commented.
Fulda EMTs are on call every third week and every sixth weekend, but would be willing to be flexible with schedules as needed. “We all are good about covering for each other when needed or trading days with each other,” Burchill stated.
