Fannie Sandhurst, a twenty-two year employee with Fulda Public Schools recently took time to share about her years in the food service department at the elementary school.

Sandhurst notified the administration and school board that she would be retiring from her position during the month of July this year. “Although I really didn’t want to, with my health it was the best choice,” Sandhurst commented.

She began working at Fulda Elementary School in August of 1996. “Mary Knorr called me and asked if I wanted to work at the school for a couple hours per day during the school year. Mary was cooking at the elementary then and Geri Zemler was our boss,” Sandhurst recalled. “I thought ‘why not’, it might be a lot of fun.”

Sandhurst’s job was to help serve the meal to the school children and staff,  and sanitize areas of the dining room and kitchen. “I enjoyed the children so much,” Sandhurst shared.
