Fulda High School Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA)  chapter members, Nolan Onken and Nathan Goedtke, recently completed their Reading is Fantastic project. Their project fell under the “See What We’ve Done” category for FCCLA projects.

Onken and Goedtke chose to work with first and second grade students at Fulda Elementary School for their project. Asking the teachers to choose grade-appropriate books, the pair set a date and read with the students. In turn, they also asked that the students read out loud to them.

Both Onken and Goedtke said that they learned some fundamental information during their project including the fact that some students are better at reading aloud than others, but all of the students had better reading skills than what Onken and Goedtke had expected.

Onken and Goedtke also shared that reading is such a great activity because you learn as you read, and it’s also important to read just for the fun of it!

Onken and Goedtke are both freshmen at FHS.
