Sophomore quarterback Eli Fest and senior running back / linebackers Andrew Madsen and Levi Spittle are among the Coyotes who are at the top of various season-ending statistical categories for the recently-completed first-year high school football pairing of Heron Lake-Okabena and Fulda.
Fest, in his second season as a varsity starter, completed 56.4 percent of his passes as he connected on 124 of 220 throws for 1,533 yards. He tossed 10 touchdown passes and was intercepted 10 times. Fest had an average gain of seven yards per pass, while compiling a passer rating of 74.3. He averaged 170 yards passing per game.
Madsen led the Coyotes in rushing with 520 yards on a team-high 114 carries. Spittle churned out 345 yards on 80 rushing attempts. Fest had a team-leading eight rushing touchdowns and also crossed the goal line five times on two-point conversion runs for a team-high total of 58 points. Sophomore Matt Madsen had HLOF’s best rushing average, gaining 124 yards on 23 carries, picking up 5.4 yards per carry.
