Fifth Annual Spring Fling held by the Water Lilies

May Day was a day of grand celebration for the Water Lilies as they held their 5th annual Spring Fling at Fulda Pool. The event began at 8 a.m. with sixty-one ladies in attendance for water exercise and fellowship afterward.

The Water Lilies have three instructors: Beth Westra on Mondays, Holly Rohlik on Wednesdays, and Jen Tiesler on Fridays. For the Spring Fling, all three instructors were on hand to lead twenty minutes each of exercise for those in attendance.

The Water Lilies do work diligently on muscle strengthening, range of motion and balance during their varied routines. “We are so lucky to have diversity in our instructors,” Ommen commented.

“We have such a range of people who attend. They come from as far away as Westbrook, Walnut Grove, Leota, Heron Lake, Dovray and Iona,” Karen Ommen shared. “They come for the water exercise because of health issues, to strengthen their bodies and to relax and enjoy the friendships that they find with those in the Water Lilies. We have those who come to Water Lilies because they have been told by their doctors to get into the water prior to surgery because if they are in good shape, then the recovery will be so much better. What they tell me that they love about Water Lilies is the group is so welcoming; and that we are community minded.”
