Murray County Relay for Life Team Fulda held their first annual Table Cancer Event on Saturday morning. The highlight of the event was the previewing of the decorated tables which ranged from simple to unique. Each table had its own story to tell.
To orchestrate this fund raising event, a hostess invited was given eight tickets – one free for herself and seven to sell at $15.00 per ticket. The hostess(es) was responsible for setting up the table and writing a paragraph that described the theme of the table. Those who purchased tickets from her, joined her at her table for Saturday’s event.
Eight tables were set to the following themes:
Take Me Out to the Ballgame, Hunting Down Cancer, Birds and Blooms, A Gentle Breeze, Plant the Seeds, Patriotism, Aloha, and A Beacon for All.
The description for Take Me Out to the Ballgame, with hostess Tami Kremer, was “Our table setting is more about our love of the Minnesota Twins than about the dishes! Baseball is the national pastime and watching the Twins is a favorite pastime for many of us. Bonnie Swanson made our placemats and napkins. Timberly Kremer made the chair covers. The dishes were a “homerun” find at a thrift store. The memorabilia has been collected through the years. So, its 1-2-3 strikes, you’re out at the old ball game!!!”
