The Nobles County Legion Council hosted a proper flag disposal ceremony on Monday, September 12, hosted by the Dundee Legion Post, Joseph Suding Post #386.
The Formal Flag Disposal Ceremony seemed extremely appropriate, held on the day following the fifteenth anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks. Posts from throughout the area joined to “fittingly destroy” flags that have been faded and worn.
Among the posts in attendance at the event were Adrian, Brewster, Dundee, Ellsworth, Hardwick, Heron Lake, Okabena, Round Lake and Worthington.
It was estimated that over 300 flags were fittingly destroyed in the ceremony, which began with a color guard advancement. Bill Brunk led the ceremony, which also included 2nd District Commander Mark Coney. Representing the First Vice Commander and Second Vice Commander in the ceremony were Lucinda Brunk, Dundee, Jennifer Ehlers, Okabena.
