From this day forward

The Tri County News, Nobles County Review, Murray County News and Fulda Free Press are sharing the bridal spirit with our readers this week. Included in the special section this week are several local couples who are preparing to tie the knot.

Planning a June 3 wedding at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Fulda are Holly Zins and Joe Rohlik. From Fulda, Zins and Rohlik met through mutual friends, when both happened to be at the Avoca bar.

With a date of July 15 as their special day, Emily Wajer and Daniel Francis share their plans for a wedding at the Lutheran Church in Slayton. Wajer is from Slayton, and Francis is from Sioux Falls. They met while attending Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall.

August 17 is the special day for Maddy Kaufman and Aaron Fest. A barn wedding is the plan for the couple who met at a summer league baseball game. Fest, from Heron Lake, was playing in Fulda that night, and Kaufman was there watching.

Dating off and on since they were in eighth grade, Mandy Henkels and Jacob Post will be saying their vows on September 23. Henkels and Post, from Heron Lake and Brewster respectively, attended Heron Lake-Okabena High School together, and have found that now is the right time to wed.

Also included in our special section is a look back of German weddings in earlier times. Customs from a wedding in Ostfriesland are shared.

For our electronic subscribers, the special section will be included with the January 30 issue of the Murray County ADvantage.
