The Fulda boys played host to Martin-Luther-Truman-Granada-Huntley-East Chain on Monday night. Coming off a tough loss to RTR on Saturday, Fulda was looking to put together a victory.
Up by nearly 18 points, the Raiders saw their lead dwindle and force an overtime. Fortunately a single free throw by Matthias Kunerth was enough to give the Raiders the 75-74 victory in this non-conference game.
Truman secondary started off the scoring with Engel making the opening shot. Fulda’s Dalton Slinger went the other way for the layup but it fell shy. He was success at the line and nailed both his charity stripe attempts.
Engel was sent to the line for Truman with each of his shots falling in to put T/ML/GHE up 4-2.
Justin Dierks makes a pass across court to find Ben White on the block for the two point conversion. On Fulda’s following possession Brandon Everett tossed the ball over to Dalton Slinger on the elbow who connects on a three giving the Raiders the 7-4 edge.
T/ML/GHE’s Engel and Shoen combine for five points to push past Fulda by two, 9-7. A couple of turnovers by the Raiders gave T/ML/GHE more opportunities at the scoreboard and their were soon out front 13-7.
Slinger came down the court and put up the three pointer from the top of the key, 10-13. T/ML/GHE’s Engel, who scored 31 points in the contest, added two more points. Jarred Jans hauled in the rebound and turned it into two points and the other end grabbed the defensive board pushed it up court to Slinger for the layup, 14-15.
As the clock ticked down the 6:48 Aron Hulstein dropped in a three to knot the game at 17-17. Matthias Kunerth added a put-back to push Fulda out front 19-17.
Fulda answered T/ML/GHE three point shot as Slinger connected on his second of nine three-pointers on the night, 22-20.
