Fulda City Council City council approves sale of Wood Duck Addition lot

The Fulda City Council met Monday, November 5, starting with a public hearing on vacating a closed street at the east end of Mill Street between the properties of Dave Thiner and Mark Knorr for an area 60 ft x 150 ft. The reason for the request is that they maintain the property now with mowing and fertilizing plus putting up with snowmobile noise all winter. The council said that they had buried water lines and communication lines  under the closed street and the city may need the property for accessibility. The council unanimously voted later in the meeting to not vacate the street.

In the regular meeting Ann Witzel updated the council on the parade of lights December 8 with festivities early in the afternoon through parade time.

Glen Gustafson offered the city $11,000 for lot nine in the Wood Duck Addition which is listed for $12,500. The council countered with $11,900 and it was accepted. The vote was unanimous.

Chuck Lursen said that two properties, 413 3rd Street and 407 N Lafayette Avenue have not adhered to the set back limits. He was told by the Mayor that those properties are in compliance and in line with other homes on the street.

SEH was hired for engineering services for improvements to the infrastructure improvements of water and wastewater systems. The report will help in funding applications. The cost of services is $106,100.40.

An emergency project on the sanitary sewer on Baltimore Avenue between 4th and 6th Street will be placed on bids. A meeting of effected property owners will be held.

The city will be buying a new mower next spring with the money coming from two Enterprize funds, water and sewer. The third portion would be streets which would be part of the taxes. The trade amount of the mower is $4,975.

Snow removal from city buildings was released on bids with Doug Daniels price of $40.00 per property as low bidder.

Three building permits were approved, one for John Maertens – replace sidewalk, Keith Evers – concrete in front of building, St. Paul’s Church – move garage from school to church.

The next regular council meeting will be December 3 at 6:30 p.m. with a truth in taxation at 6:00 p.m.
