Fulda City Council discusses new ambulance

The Open Forum of the Fulda Council meeting on August 13th included two requests. Barb Bergman is looking for a location to provide toenail care through her business, Twinkle Toes. She operates in Slayton and Currie and is expanding to Fulda. She is requesting use of the meeting room one day per month because it is handicap accessible. It was discussed and the council thought it would be better if she could find another location. Chuck Lursen had questions on water quality and weeds around town. No action taken.

Roger Zins of the Fulda Ambulances Association talked about the need to replace the ambulance soon. There is money in the Contingency Fund but more will be needed. The council approved pursuing the process of looking for bids.

Heath Landsman from the Murray County Sheriff’s Office offered a proposal to the City of Fulda. The city would pay about  $1200 per year to the county to be interfaced with the State and County system which the city currently pays separately. Fulda would pay $100 per transport to the jail receiving point (Lyon County Jail). Training will cost $100.00-$120.00 per student. These prices are in the police budget currently. The council approved the proposal and it will start in the next cycle starting in July.
