HILLS — A two-game winning streak for the ever-improving Fulda High School varsity football squad came to a halt at Hills last Wednesday evening (October 19) as the well-balanced and diversified Hills-Beaver Creek Patriots defeated the Raiders by a final score of 61-14.

The Patriots, who improved to 6-2 on the campaign, scored four touchdowns in the opening quarter and then countered a pair of second-quarter Fulda TDs by crossing the goal line four more times themselves before halftime.

H-BC held a 52-14 advantage at intermission.

“Hills-Beaver Creek may be the most underrated team in the state,” summed up FHS head coach Greg Erdmann. “They are a legitimate top five team in my opinion. The Patriots have excellent line play, aggressive running backs and a tall quarterback who passes well to some fleet-footed receivers. They have the whole package.”

H-BC’s only two losses this fall were a one-point setback to undefeated and state-ranked Cleveland (35-34 at Cleveland, September 9) and a closely-contested defeat to Edgerton/Ellsworth (46-38 at Edgerton, October 7). The Patriots are averaging 53.3 points per game this season, while allowing only 19.4 points per game.
