Fulda High School principal, Tyson Walker, recently sent a letter to area businesses in search of a list of materials that would help students at FHS enter into trade school learning.

In his letter, Principal Walker stated, “Our school serves many 2nd and 3rd generation farm families that are enrolled in our school district. I am looking to create students who can enter the workforce and make a positive impact because of the rigor and learning that our school can offer our students through the use of science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM).”

He continued with, “My forward thinking teachers and I have shared vision and with your assistance we will produce learners who are able to enter the workforce to develop innovative strategies, products and technologies that will enhance the bottom line and the lives of both the company and its clients. I am confident that our students will be engaged with learning by solving real-world problems while investigating, tinkering, building, inventing, creating, asking questions and by using trial and error. I truly believe that this process will build resilient learners who will strive in an innovative industry.”

Principal Walker said that he is excited to support the students and teachers as the new program begins in the fall of 2018. Donations of tools, materials and funds are needed to start the program. The goal for funds is $30,000. With implementation of certain ideas and practices, the program is expected to become self-sustaining.
