Fulda Insurance man Wally Johlf’s passes away

Wally Johlfs, who served the residents of the Fulda area by selling insurance products for twenty-two years, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2020.

Johlfs’ was a part of a four-generation family business that was started in 1905 by his grandfather, Fred Johlfs. Fred remained owner and operator of Johlfs’ Insurance Agency until 1950, when his son, Clarence Johlfs took over the business. In 1978, Wally, Clarence’s son, purchased the agency from his father and was appointed Secretary of the Murray County Mutual.

In 1980, Wally hired his son, Buck, to help him at Johlfs’ Insurance Agency. Buck purchased the business in 1989. Together, he and Wally continued to serve the area until 2000 when the business was sold.

Wally was an active member of the Fulda community, serving as a Boy Scout leader and a member of the Fulda Fire Department for many years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #318 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #9017.
