Fulda Lumber Company, LLC has been named as the May Business of the Month by the Fulda Area Community Club. The business is located at 418 E. Front Street. Jerry and Cindy Steiner are the owners of the retail lumber yard.
Fulda Lumber Company was started on November 2, 1946 by Louie and Don Schwab. Due to poor health, Louie sold his share to Don in 1965. Jerry Steiner started in 1975 to work for Don Schwab when he was 16 years old. Jerry left to take a job in Alexandria, MN in 1979. On December 26, 1978 Don sold the business to Gene and Sheryl Schwab Heger. Jerry and Cindy Steiner started together on August 11, 1980 as employees of Fulda Lumber. Due to the poor farm economy in 1986, Gene and Sheryl moved to St. Paul. Jerry Steiner became manager.
