34 singers and 41 instrument players in grades 8-12 from Fulda High School performed at the 2019 Solo and Ensemble Music Contest. Out of sixteen events entered by Fulda students, 14 of those won awards.  65 awards were won with 8 of them superior ratings and 57 excellent ratings.

Students from 10 other area schools attended the competition.

Director Matt Saxman stated, “I’m very proud of our young musicians for their accomplishments this year. I’m especially proud of our vocal soloists, each of whom won a superior award! With our difficult winter, we knew some of our ensembles were less prepared than we’d have liked, but each group put in a strong effort. Performing in front of a judge at contest as individuals or small groups is not easy, especially for young musicians. Each person’s contribution is very important and at the same time very exposed. Thank you to the community for continuing to support our school’s music programs – these are great opportunities for our students to get feedback and to grow in their confidence as musicians and as young adults. There is still a chance to hear several of the groups! Each of the larger vocal ensembles will perform at our Spring Choir Concert on May 20th, in addition to the top scoring vocal soloist and duet.”
