FULDA PUBLIC SCHOOL BOARD OF EDUCATION RETREAT

Tuesday, July 23, 2019 – 6:00 p.m.

Board Room – High School

The board of education retreat was called to order by Superintendent Loy Woelber at 6:00 pm.

Members present were Brian VanderBeek, Kayla Clarke, Don Tiesler, Doug Clarke, Brittany Perish, Luke Isder and Jason Appel. Others present were Superintendent Loy Woelber, Representatives from Apex. 

Introductions by all.

Discussions on technology, curriculum, facilities and enrollments.

Discussed employee vacancies and new hires.

Goals: well-rounded kids with strong academics, school involvement and healthy social-emotional skills.

Buildings have many things that need attention: new boilers at HS, roofing at both buildings, windows at elementary, sidewalks at elementary, new entrance at elementary and others.

Wet weather has been hard on athletic fields, will need to have some work done.

Door replacements need to be done this fall for fire marshal code and replacing of old that have lived their lifespan.

Enrollment is looking up again. Kindergarten class coming in is larger than graduated senior class. New families and Fulda natives are returning to the area.

Colby beginning work as Community Ed Director in August. Thanks to Jess Mitchell for many years of exceptional service and being such an advocate for our community!
