The Fulda Raider Girls Basketball team battled through two low-scoring, physical basketball games but ultimately wound up on the wrong side of both, losing twice. Fulda fell to Adrian, 47-45, before traveling to Hendricks and losing 46-29. The losses drop the Raiders record to 3-6.
In the game against Adrian, Fulda rode some good shooting and good defense to a first half lead. McKenzie Evers hit 2 early 3-pointers and both Jazmine Vega and Camryn Baumhoefner were able to score early in the paint en route to a 22-11 Raider lead. The Dragons were able to close the gap some before the half, but Fulda headed into the locker room with a 29-20 lead. Unfortunately the Raiders opened the second half cold and the Dragons were able to take the lead at 32-31. The teams traded the lead for much of the half, setting up a crazy final minute. With the score 46-43 Adrian, McKenzie Evers was fouled, went to the line, and made two. Needing to foul, the Raiders put Adrian to the line. Three times, Adrian went to the line and missed free throws, giving Fulda a chance. Ultimately, the Raiders had 3 good looks at the basket but were unable to convert, and Adrian sealed it with a last second free throw to win 47-45.
Camryn Baumhoefner led the Raiders in the entertaining contest with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Evany Luna added 13 points and 8 rebounds, and McKenzie Evers had 10 points. Paige Bullerman had 10 points to lead a balanced Dragon attack, whose win was propelled by 19 offensive rebounds.
On a cold, snowy Thursday night the Raiders traveled up to Hendricks and were met with a 46-29 defeat. Hendricks jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, as the Raiders went ice cold from all over in the game. The Raiders briefly led in the first half and cut the lead down to as little as 5 in the second half, but a strong, physical Hendricks team was able to hold off their charges.
Evany Luna had a very good overall game for the Raiders, with 12 points, 13 rebounds, 6 steals, and 3 assists. McKenzie Evers added 6 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists. Kaylee Johnson led the Grizzlies with 16 points, and Sophie Johnson had 15 points.
