Fulda Raider girls come up short in first round of playoffs with game vs Hills-Beaver Creek

If you would have walked into the Worthington High School gym Saturday afternoon at the end of the Fulda vs. HBC basketball game, you would have thought it was your typical 3rd seed vs. 6th seed game as the Patriots defeated the Raiders 68 – 47. But this couldn’t be further from the truth. Fulda came out ready to play from the start, applying a full court trap off the tip. They continued to frustrate HBC for the next 18 minutes with their scrappy and physical defense, holding their most versatile offensive player to a scoreless first half. Throughout the half, the Raiders played fearless attacking the much bigger and stronger Patriots on the offensive end drawing a number of fouls. They held their largest lead of the game (seven points) nearly ten minutes in, but two big shots from an unlikely source, Mekayla Kolbrek, for the Patriots and a 19 -11 run gave them a one point lead (35 – 34) going into the half.
