Fulda Raider volleyball team ends season

The Fulda Raiders volleyball team finished the season playing against tough opponents.  Tuesday, Oct. 9th they faced the RRC Falcons in Lamberton, the SWC Eagles at home on Thursday Oct. 11th, and finally the WWG Chargers on Monday Oct. 15th.  The team played well but came up short in all three games going 0-3.

Fulda – 0

Red Rock Central  – 3

The Raiders lost the first two sets but played better in the third set.  The Raiders missed a few key serves and struggled to defend against the RRC offensive attack.  Leading the Raiders in kills was Evany Luna with 4 and McKenzie Evers and Emily Madison with 3 kills. Chrissy Hermeling had a solid night with 8 set assists and 10 digs.  Game scores were 12-25, 10-25, and 18-25.

Fulda – 0

Southwest Christian  – 3

The Raiders played their last home game against the SWC Eagles. The Raiders came out playing strong but couldn’t keep up the momentum into the 2nd and 3rd sets.  Evany Luna played well overall, ending the game with 3 kills, 5 digs, and was 6 for 6 serving. McKenzie Evers and Kelsey Furstenburg each had 2 kills.  Chrissy Hermeling ended the night with 6 set assists.  Game scores were 17-25, 13-25, and 9-25.

Westbrook-Walnut Grove – 3

With the last regular season game, the Raiders came out and played well against the Chargers. The team started out slow in the 1st set but picked up the energy by the 2nd set.  They served well but struggled on defense covering the tips and roll shots the Chargers placed on offense.     Emily Madison led the Raiders in kills with 5, followed by McKenzie Evers with 3. Evany Luna and Kelsey Furstenburg played solid defense each having 10 digs. Chrissy Hermeling finished the night with 10 set assists and was 9 for 10 serving with 2 aces.  Game scores were 9-25, 20-25, and 12-25.

For the playoffs, Fulda (#10 seed) will face WWG (#7 seed) again on Monday Oct. 22nd at Westbrook.
