The Raiders opened the 2019 calendar year by traveling up to face the top-ranked team in Class A, the Minneota Vikings. The Vikings used an aggressive defensive and long ranged shooting to prove that they are worth their ranking. They defeated the Raiders 96-49.
Tyler Madison led the Raiders in scoring with 23 points, while also collecting 10 rebounds. Payton Marquardt added 13 points, while Sam Cheadle contributed 11 points.
The Vikings got off to a fast start by moving the ball around the perimeter quickly to find the man open in the middle of the lane. They were able to use this strategy to jump out to a quick 8-0 lead. Cheadle was able to get the Raiders on the board by hitting a driving layup. Minneota continued to move the ball around and the Raiders were able to contest their shots a little better, but unfortunately the Vikings used their size and strength to crash the offensive glass. Madison was able to drive the length of the floor with the Raiders down 12-2 and got on the scoreboard himself. Madison then found Marquardt in the corner for a 3-pointer and the Raiders were now only down 15-7. Minneota once again flexed their muscle on the defensive end by putting a lot of pressure on the Raiders and forced them into turnovers, which led to easy layups on the other end. The Vikings forced the Raiders into 27 turnovers in the game. Minneota was able to extend the lead out quickly to 47-12 before Madison and Cheadle were able to get to the basket again themselves.
