The Fulda Girls’ Basketball team started the week on the road Tuesday night against the Southwest Christian Eagles. The Eagles came into the game with only one conference loss. They used a balanced attack, all 10 players scoring, to earn a convincing 91 – 44 win over the Raiders. Jazlyn Prins scored 17 points with four steals for the Eagles, Leah Buys scored 15 points. Chantel Groen scored 14 points, with eight rebounds and six steals. The Raiders were led by Randi Tiesler and Evany Luna (7 rebounds) who each scored 11 points.
Unlike the first meeting, Thursday night’s girls’ basketball game in Fulda against the MCC Rebels ended in regulation. When the first half ended, the Raiders held a six-point lead and it seemed that it was going to be another close game between the two rivals, but the Raiders decided different. Part way through the second half, they turned it up a notch. Great team defense and energy led to open shots, and those shots were buried. In a matter of seconds, they hit three consecutive three pointers, two by Randi Tiesler and the other by Evany Luna, to push the lead to 12 and they never looked back. The Raiders went on to win by a score of 64 – 44. Randi Tiesler and Emily Schroer (11 rebounds, four assists) led the way in the scoring department with 22 and 15 points, respectively. Evany Luna added nine points and 13 rebounds, while Courtney Zins had six points and 12 rebounds. Amanda Muecke finished with 14 points for the Rebels.
