EDGERTON — Playing inspired football from start to finish, at Edgerton last Tuesday evening (October 24), the Fulda High School Raiders battled the heavily-favored Edgerton / Ellsworth Flying Dutchmen to the wire in an action-packed Section 3 Nine-Man quarterfinal game.
The Raiders scored first in the contest and then rallied with a trio of second-quarter touchdowns and tied the score at 30-30 as the exciting first half came to a close.
After a low-scoring third quarter, the run-oriented Dutchmen powered their way to second-half leads of 38-30, 46-30, 46-36, 54-36 and 62-36 before the Raiders scored the game’s final touchdown — and two-point conversion — making the final score 62-44 in favor of Edgerton / Ellsworth.
“It was a fun 9-Man football game last Tuesday night with lots of scoring and fireworks,” summed up first-year FHS head coach Jonathon Curry. “Our guys really came out fired up and played hard for all 48 minutes. I was very happy with the way we sustained our intensity and execution.”
Racking up a season-high total of 481 yards of offense (253 rushing, 228 passing), the Raiders scored a season-high 44 points on six touchdowns and four successful two-point conversions.
