Gehl leads Warrior girls to team victory at Tracy CC Meet

Another sparkling first-place performance by Morgan Gehl paced the well-balanced Murray County Central / Fulda paired high school cross country program to a dominating varsity girls’ team victory last Thursday (September 5) at the huge Panther Invitational on the challenging terrain of the Tracy Golf Course.

Gehl, a smooth-running junior, steadily pulled away from Canby / Minneota sophomore Grace Drietz to impressively win the individual championship among 79 finishers from 18 teams.

Gehl ran the 5,000-meter course in a stellar early-season time of 19:13.5, while Drietz finished a clear second with her time of 19:47.3. The third-place finisher was Maddie LeSage (Redwood Valley), who ran the 3.1-mile distance in 21:24.0 — nearly 97 seconds behind Drietz and 131.5 seconds after Gehl, Minnesota’s second-ranked Class A girls’ cross country runner, entered the finish chute.
