Saving your life could be as easy as making an appointment to have a heart and vascular screening done.
Arl Weinrebe is a strong proponent for the tests. “It truly saved my life,” he said as he shared his story. Weinrebe works as the maintenance manager at Murray County Medical Center and had often thought he should really sign up for one of those screenings. Little did Weinrebe know the day he entered the truck to have his screening done, two months later he’d undergo four by-passes. “When I returned back to work after having surgery, those same guys were here doing a screening. I went out there and had my picture taken with them and thanked them for saving my life.”
Weinrebe’s story takes us back to 2014. Earlier in the year his brother, who is two years younger, had a heart attack and prior to that Weinrebe’s mother died from a heart attack at the age of 73. With heart problems in the family, when the screening came around that fall, Weinrebe’s chatted with Chris Rohrer, MCMC respiratory therapist, stating he felt he was on borrowed time.
