Heroes of Hunger Food Drive and Operation: Feed a Family orchestrated by First Presbyterian Church youth

On Sunday, October 21st, First Presbyterian Church youth dressed up in their hero costumes and went around the city collecting food items for the Fulda Food Shelf and for Operation: Thanksgiving Feed a Family bags.

Operation: Thanksgiving Feed a Family is a way to help those struggling families prepare for their own holiday traditions with a Thanksgiving food basket. As the holidays draw near, many families begin preparing for abundant feasts and old family traditions. However, for many more, the holidays often mean a struggle simple to provide a Thanksgiving turkey for their children.

With food goods collected for the Operation Thanksgiving Feed a Family bags, the Presbyterian youth met again on Sunday, October 28th to put together the bags to provide the Thanksgiving meal for families. The bags included a certificate to pick up a turkey, canned vegetables, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, stuffing, gravy mix, jello or salad mix, and a dessert or cookie mix. The bags will be delivered to local families who are in need.

The youth of First Presbyterian Church are grateful to the residents of the community of Fulda for their wonderful response to the Heroes of Hunger Food Drive. Enough food was collected to fill 25 “gift bags” for families in the Fulda community. All of the remaining non-perishable goods were donated to the Fulda Food Shelf.
