Getting double-figure scoring production from eighth-graders Noah Vrooman and Ethan Gilman, along with seventh-graders Logan Gass and Denver Einck, the Heron Lake-Okabena / Fulda junior high boys did very well in the Red Rock Conference Track and Field Meet at Mountain Lake last Friday, May 11.
Those four young athletes accounted for 73 of the 87 points scored by the Coyotes in the conference junior high meet, which involved eight teams, representing 12 schools.
HL-O / Fulda’s 87-point total was good enough for a second-place team finish, outscoring six of the teams, while finishing behind only the winning total of 156 racked up the combination of Southwest Minnesota Christian and Edgerton.
Finishing third was Hills-Beaver Creek (71), followed closely by Mountain Lake Area / Comfrey (67). Murray County Central was a distant fifth with 22 points, while Ellsworth (12), Adrian (5) and Westbrook-Walnut Grove / Red Rock Central (0) completed the team standings.
