In an aggressively-played game which was a “nail-biter” from start to finish, the Heron Lake-Okabena / Fulda C-Squad girls basketball team claimed an exciting 25-20 victory over Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey at Okabena last Tuesday, January 15.
The game was tied at 10-10 at halftime, but the Coyotes outscored the visiting Wolverines by a 15-10 spread after the break.
“This game was back and forth the entire way,” summed up HLOF Coach Jonathon Curry.”There were lots of lead changes as neither team could create any separation on the scoreboard until we pulled away in the last few minutes. I was very proud of how our girls did a great of answering the call each they got a lead and it was great to see us make nice plays and hit some big shots at the end of the game to seal up the victory.”
The win was the fifth for the Coyote C-Squad this year and improves the team’s overall record to 5-2.
Six girls scored for HLOF in the win, including a team-high eight points by Claire Reith who netted four two-point field goals.
Faith White (five), Addison Fisher (four), Skylar Fisher (four), Brooke Lais (two) and Corrine Frodermann (two) combined to score 17 more points for the Coyotes.
