HL-O/Fulda Coyote golfers tee off season

The Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda Coyotes golf teams teed off their season last week, traveling to Slayton to take on Murray County Central and Red Rock Central on Tuesday. They visited Worthington on Thursday, before the boys hosted WWG at their home course in Fulda on Friday.

MCC & RRC

A very cool and windy day greeted the golfers, as they teed off their season on Tuesday, April 2.

The Coyote boys won the meet, shooting 187 on the day. MCC came in second with 215, and RRC finished the day at 225.

Medalist honors went to Jack Pierson of MCC, who carded a 42 on the day. Cory Renneke (HLOF) was second with 44.

For the Coyotes, finishing two strokes behind Renneke was Ethan Koep. Isaiah Schmid shot a 48 and Joe Fischer came into the clubhouse with a 49.

The MCC girls won the triangular, behind the medalist honors of Rebel Abby Hamman. She shot a 43, and was followed by Cierra Tutt, also from MCC, with a 48.

The Coyotes  finished in second, shooting 257 on the day. RRC came in with 302.

Elly Bang led the Coyotes, shooting a 59. Her sister, Meakin, carded a 60. Kelli Renneke came in with a 64 for the team. Arianna Stearns rounded out the scoring for the Coyotes, shooting a 74.

Worthington

On Thursday, April 4, the Coyotes traveled to Worthington. It was another cool day for golfing, with some mist and rain in the air.

The boys defeated the Worthington Trojans, 176-185, while the girls were defeated, 260-222.

Medalist honors were again earned by the Coyotes’ Cory Renneke, who shot a 39 on the par 36, nine-hole course.

Peyton Marquardt shot a 41, and Tyler Madison came in with 45. Jose Fischer (510 rounded out the Coyotes scoring.

The Trojans were led by Nick Weg and Presson T., each with a 44 on the day.

On the girls side, Maggie Putnam of the Trojans was the medalist, shooting a 52.

Elly Bang led the Coyotes with 55. Meakin Bang shot a 61, followed by Arianna Stearns (69) and Kelli Rennehke (75).
