HL-O/Fulda Coyotes place three girls in two events

Gehl wins twice at Slayton, White wins vault,

A pair of winning performances by sophomore distance ace Morgan Gehl, a victory in the pole vault by eighth-grader Faith White and three placements in both the 100-meter high hurdles and discus events highlighted girls’ track and field action for Heron Lake-Okabena / Fulda in the MCC Early Bird Invitational at Slayton last Tuesday, April 2.

It was the first outdoor meet of the new season for the Coyotes, who competed along with five other high school teams on a fairly warm, but windy day.

Gehl scored 20 points for HL-O / Fulda by winning both the 800-meter run (2:28.14) and the 1,600 or mile with a fine time of 5:26.80.

White cleared 7-6 to win the pole vault and also placed fourth in both the 100-meter dash (15.05) and the long jump (13-9.5) as she finished the day with 20 points for the Coyotes (10, 5, 5).

The meet had all six field events, but did not run any of the four relays or have either the 300-meter low hurdles or the 3,200-meter run. There were unlimited entries in all 12 events that were held.
