Windom no-hits HLOF in 10-0 victory Thursday
Playing five times last week against quality opponents, the young Heron Lake-Okabena / Fulda combined high school girls’ fast-pitch softball team came out on the short end of the score in all five games.
On Monday (May 14), the Coyotes hosted Murray County Central in a Red Rock Conference doubleheader. MCC posted a pair of victories, 11-1 and 10-0.
The next day (Tuesday, May 15), perennial powerhouse Edgerton / Southwest Minnesota Christian came to Okabena for another conference doubleheader. The high-powered Flying Dutchmen left town with two lop-sided wins, claiming a 20-1 victory in the opener and a 16-0 triumph in the second game.
On Thursday (May 17), the Coyotes traveled northeast to Windom and tangled with the Big South Conference Eagles. HLOF was unable to get a hit in the game and the Coyotes were blanked by Windom, 10-0.
HLOF finished its regular season with an overall record of 2-11, while going 1-9 in the Red Rock.
Seeded seventh in Section 3A South, the Coyotes were scheduled to play second-seeded Wabasso on Tuesday (May 22) at 3 p.m. in the opening round of the playoffs. The winning team was scheduled to play again at 6 p.m.
