HL-O/Fulda Golfers visit Adrian, Larchwood before weather postponements

Before the snow and ice began falling, the Coyote golf team traveled to Adrian to take part in a triangular meet with Adrian and Southwest Christian. Sunny skies and winds of 30 miles per hour were enjoyed by the golfers on the Adrian Country Club course on Monday afternoon, April 8.

The boys team won the meet, shooting 174 on the day. Adrian came in with 194, and SWC finished with 201.

Coyote Cory Renneke was the medalist, carding a 40 on the par 36, nine hole course. Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda’s Payton Marquardt was second, shooting a 43.

Ethan Koep came in with 45, and Tyler Madison and Isaiah Schmid each shot a 46 to finish the Coyote scoring.

Adrian was led by Brock Henning with a 45, and SWC’s lead golfer was Derek Fey, who shot a 48 on the day.

The girls narrowly missed winning the meet, scoring 212 to Adrian’s 211. SWC was incomplete, with only two golfers.

Madelyn Odell from the Adrian Dragons was the medalist for the girls, shooting 48. Meakin Bang was second, carding a 50 on the course.

Elly Bang (52), Samantha Freking (54) and Lexy Ruesch (56) rounded out the scoring for the Coyotes at Adrian.

The Coyotes were able to golf on Tuesday, April 9, and traveled to Larchwood to take on Hills-Beaver Creek and Pipestone in another triangular meet.

Cory Renneke and Payton Marquardt were again the top two golfers for the boys, as the Coyotes won the meet with 177. Pipestone had 204, and HBC finished with 220.

Medalist honors for Renneke were earned with his 43 in the meet. Marquardt was one stroke behind, and Tyler Madison and Ethan Koep both finished two strokes behind Renneke, shooting 45 on the nine hole course.

Pipestone’s lead golfer was McCaden Biever, with a 48. HBC was led by Thomas Dysthe with a 51.

Pipestone won the girls portion of the meet, scoring 207. HLOF finished with 220 on the day. HBC was incomplete on the girls side.

Emma Budden and Jenna Kerkhaert shared medalist honors. The Arrow girls each shot 46.

HLOF was led by Lexy Ruesch with a 54. Samantha Freking and Elly Bang were tied with 55, and Meakin Bang came in with a 56 for the Coyotes.
