Playing better all-around volleyball as the match progressed, Heron Lake-Okabena / Fulda won a key Red Rock Conference clash over Southwest Minnesota Christian last Thursday evening (September 19) on Fulda’s homecourt.
The Coyotes prevailed in four sets, winning three straight after the Eagles opened the match with a four-point victory (25-21) in Game 1.
“Overall, we started a little slow,” said HL-O / F head coach Trista Rhubee. “We struggled to serve aggressively and were late with the block. But once we found a rhythm in the back row, everything else managed to fall into place. We did a good job of keeping the pressure on throughout the last set to end strong.”
The Coyotes, now 8-7 overall and 2-1 in the conference, certainly did end the match strong.
After winning the second and third sets by relatively close scores (25-19 and 25-20), HL-O / F polished off the Eagles with a dominating 25-11 triumph in Game 4, earning a 3-1 match victory.
