Hot hand of Slinger helps Raider boys roll past Heron Lake-Okabena 106-71; Set team scoring record

ior Dalton Slinger had the hot hand dropping in 46 points in Fulda’s contest with Heron Lake-Okabena this past Thursday night. The Raiders, to the best of anyone’s knowledge, charted a new single game scoring record with 106 points. There were several games in the mid 70’s and 80’s were the teams scored over 50 in a half, but no one can remember a boys squad tallying 106 points in a single game.

Slinger was one point shy of tying the single game scoring school record which is currently by Arvid Kramer with the 47 points that he scored on March 7, 1975.

Slinger hit 8-of-15 three point attempts while scoring 7-of-9 shots in the point to go with 8-of-13 from the charity stripe to tally 46 points.

Andy Oakland dropped in nine three point shots against Murray County Central on February 4th, 2013 to tally 45 points in the game.

Fulda quickly put up four points with back-to-back trips with scoring coming on a layup from Leighton Gehl and a quick pass up court to Dalton Slinger.

HLO’s Ben Sheldahl garnered two points. Fulda went back to work on offense with Gehl finding a lane down the middle for two points followed by  basket from Ben White.

On Fulda’s following possession, Matthias Kunerth lobbed the ball up court to Slinger who turned it into a two point conversion. He later added a free throw to up Fulda’s score 11-6.

A basket from HLO’s Logan Knutson and Lee Gunther and the Wildcats had pulled within one, 10-11.
