Again serving well and putting up a strong blocking effort, the Heron Lake-Okabena / Fulda varsity volleyball squad competed well against perennial power Jackson County Central in an early-season non-conference match at Jackson last Tuesday, August 27.
The Coyotes competed with determined hustle and won the first set (25-22) before the Huskies claimed a 3-1 match victory by winning the next three sets by scores of 25-19, 25-20 and 29-27.
The loss put HL-O / Fulda’s record at 1-1 on the young season following a 3-0 sweep over Worthington (at Okabena, August 22) and the four-set loss to JCC.
The Coyotes were sharp in Game 1 at Jackson, posting a five-point victory and gaining some confident momentum. Games 2 and 3 were competitive with several lead swings, but JCC was able to come out one top of each.
