In memory of Clifford Olson

1948-CLIFFORD OLSON-2019

Clifford “Cliff” Roy Olson was born on July 13, 1948 in Morris, Minnesota to Russell and Hazel Banister Olson.  He grew up on the family farm near Chokio, MN and graduated from Chokio High School in 1966.  Cliff was drafted to the United States Army on June 27, 1968.  Following his honorable discharge on June 18, 1970 he returned to Chokio.  On June 5, 1971 he and Nancy Torgerson were married at Hanley Falls, MN.  Following their marriage they made their home in Slayton, MN where Cliff worked for Rupp Construction and drove truck over the road.  He later started working for Lundell Bus Service that later became Ludolph Bus Services where Cliff was currently working.  Cliff was kind of a jack-of-all-trades. Cliff passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN at the age of 71.  He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton.  He also was a member of the Slayton American Legion Post.  Cliff enjoyed spending time with family, old music, western movies, bowling and playing cards.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Olson of Slayton, MN, two children and their spouses, Shelli and Mark Plainview, MN, and Jason and Abrah Olson of St. Cloud, MN, six grandchildren, his mother, Hazel Olson of Morris, MN, two siblings and their spouses, Nancy and Harvey Gillespie of Chokio, MN, and Russella and Gary Marquart of Hancock, MN.  He is preceded in death by his father, Russell Olson.

Memorial Services at Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton, MN on Monday, October 21, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Dale Degner officiating.  The organist is Brenda Whitehead.  Interment is at Slayton Memorial Gardens Slayton, MN.  Military honors accorded by the Slayton American Legion Post and the Slayton VFW Post.
