During her childhood the family lived in Sheldon, Avoca and Currie, MN where Betty attended Currie High School. Following school Betty worked for Perne and Bernice Silvernale at Ma Pa Loma Bowling alley and also at their home. Betty met her future husband in Bill Pattinson’s yard. Calix was perched in a big tree (reason unknown), but he whistled at her and the rest is history. On June 20, 1949 she and John “Calix” Pommier were married at the IHM Church in Currie, MN. Following their marriage they lived above the bowling alley and later in Amiret, MN before returning to Currie. In 1958 they moved to the original Pommier home north of Currie where they farmed. Betty worked for Campbell Soup Company in Worthington, MN before going back to school to become a nurse’s aid. Following graduation Betty worked at the Tracy Hospital, Slayton Manor and Murray County Hospice. In May 2015 due to failing health they moved to Maplewood Court Assisted Living in Fulda, MN. Calix passed away on December 14, 2018. On September 3, 2019 Betty moved to Our House Hospice Home in Slayton where she passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at the age of 88.
