In memory of Elizabeth Voss

Elizabeth “Betty” Marie Voss, the daughter of Ted and Irene Bonnstetter, was born on December 5, 1940 in Vern Valley Township near West Bend, IA. She attended school in Rodman, IA graduating from Rodman High School in 1958. She then attended Mankato Commercial College. Betty was united in marriage to Gene Voss on June 5, 1965 in West Bend, IA. After their marriage they lived in the Avoca and Fulda areas their entire married lives. Betty was a stay at home mom until her daughters started school, at which time she worked at Toro and later JBS/Swift. After her retirement in 2006 she enjoyed traveling with Gene on various bus trips and visiting the girls. Betty put up a courageous fight against cancer that she was diagnosed with in 2013. Betty passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at the Our House Hospice Home of Murray County in Slayton, MN at the age of 78. She was a member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Fulda where she did volunteer work. She enjoyed time at home, gardening, tending her flowerbeds, number puzzles and spending time with friends and family. Betty also loved baking and sharing her goodies with friends and family. She has touched many with her kind heart and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Gene Voss of Fulda, MN; 2 daughters, Angie (Jim) Fogel of Cambridge, MN and Kim (Clarence) Scott of Alexandria, MN; 1 grandson; 2 great-grandsons; sister, Edna Esser of Virginia Beach, VA; brother, Paul (Linda) Bonnstetter of Lakewood, CO; special sister, Barb (Joe) LaCanne; several brothers and sisters-in law and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Lela Farrell and 2 brothers, Chuck and Gene Bonnstetter.

Funeral Services were held at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church Fulda, MN at 10:30 AM on Friday, February 22, 2019 with Msgr. R. Paul Heiting officiating.  The organist was Mary Ann Boom. The song leader was Lloyd Winter. The pallbearers were Brian Voss, Jason Voss, Don Elskamp, Duane Hattendorf, Terry Johnson and Dennis Giesleman. Interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery Avoca, MN.
