In memory of Elvera (Probst) Wagner

1931-ELVERA (PROBST) WAGNER-2019

Elvera (Probst) Wagner, age 88, of Worthington, died at the Crossroads Care Center in Worthington. She was born March 29, 1931 in Ivanhoe to Paul and Rose (Sieve) Heinrichs.

Elvera married Nicholas Probst on November 6, 1950 in Wilmont, MN. The couple lived in Worthington, MN and later in Sibley, IA. In 1968, they purchased the Red Owl store in Fulda and operated it until 1974. They bought and operated Nick’s Café from 1976 to 1977. Elvera then worked at the Fulda Free Press and later served as secretary to the Principal at Fulda High School. Nicholas died on June 2, 1986.

Elvera married Walter Wagner on June 11, 1988 in Fulda, MN. The couple lived in Spirit Lake, IA. Walter died on January 16, 2006. Elvera later moved to Worthington, MN.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Worthington, MN. She enjoyed her grandchildren, the Minnesota Twins, playing cards, crocheting, fishing, and the occasional lottery ticket.

Elvera is survived by her six children, Dennis (Denise) Probst, San Diego, CA; Barbara (Robert) Berkes, El Segundo, CA; Douglas Probst, Moose Lake, MN; Paula Ahrens, Worthington, MN; Pamela (Randy) Veith, Red Wing, MN; and Tom Probst, Adrian, MN; twelve grandchildren, Jennifer (Tom Becker) Probst, Jacqueline (Johann) Depperschmidt, Geoff (Danika) Probst, Lucas (Alexis) Probst, Eric (Amanda) Berkes, Marissa (Hamish) Ali, Nick (Erin) Ahrens, Joe (Jordan) Ahrens, Haley (Jani Brackett) Veith, Marcus Veith, Megan Probst and Mari Probst; five great-grandchildren; stepchildren and their families; two sisters, Vonnie Konz, Adrian, MN; and Helen Schweitzer, Des Moines, IA; and a brother-in-law, Dale Molitor, St. Peter, MN; in-laws, Jim and Angie Mixner, Worthington, MN; Donald and Doris Probst, Worthington, MN; and Anna Mae Fuerstenberg, Wilmont, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; daughter-in-law, Patricia Grace Probst; son-in-law, Michael Ahrens; a sister, Jane Molitor, and sister-in-law, Mariella Heeren.

A time of fellowship was held on  Saturday, August 17 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Worthington. A Memorial Mass will be Saturday, August 17, at St. Mary Catholic Church officiated by Fr. James Callahan. Burial of cremains will be in the St. Kilian Catholic Cemetery in St. Kilian.
