1928-HARRY BEKX-2017
Harry Bekx, age 88 years of age passed away at the Windom Area Hospital on July 31, 2017.
Harry was born on August 14, 1928 in Aarle-Rixtel, Netherlands to Edward and Laura Bekx. Harry worked on the family farm until he married Ann on April 22, 1954 and then on May 7, 1954 Harry and Ann immigrated to Canada where Harry worked on a farm until they moved to the United States in 1955. They first lived in Iowa and then in 1973 moved to Fulda.
Harry loved the farm life and raising three daughters. He enjoyed raising livestock and had a strong love of animals. His favorite was horses. He loved gardening with Ann, dancing, card playing and joking around with family and friends. He enjoyed his Monday morning meetings with the Bald Eagles Club and spending time with his good friend Francis. His greatest joys were his three daughters who spoiled him rotten, his grandchildren and his great grandson. Harry was a member of Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Windom.
He is survived by three daughters, Therese and Joe Zieske of Fulda, MN; Lorraine (Doug) Lohse of Windom, MN; and Nancy Macgregor of Windom, MN; six grandchildren, Sean Wiles of Novato, CA; Ashley (Kyle) Nagy of Sandpoint, ID; Michael Macgregor of Mankato, MN; Matt Macgregor of Windom, MN; Kaitlyn Lohse of Windom, MN; Ryan Lohse of Windom, MN; and his great grandson Colton of Windom, MN.
He is preceded in death by his wife Ann, his parents and nine siblings.
A celebration of live was held on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Windom with Father Tim Hall officiating. Honorary Bearers were Sean Wiles, Matt Macgregor, Ashley Nagy, Kaitlyn Lohse, Michael Macgregor, Ryan Lohse and The Bald Eagles. Interment at St. Francis Cathollic Church, Windom, Minnesota (at a later date).
