1941-JAMES ZEMLER-2018
James (Jim) Edward Zemler, the son of Herman and Agnes (Baechler) Zemler, was born on June 14, 1941 in Fulda, MN. He grew up in Fulda and attended St. Gabriel School and graduated from the Fulda High School in 1959. Jim served three years in the U.S. Army and spent time serving in Korea. Upon his discharge from the Army, Jim served the Brothers of Good Shepard, where he met the love of his life, Virginia “Jini” Sack. Jim and Jini were married on July 22, 1972 and later moved to Worthington, MN. There they adopted two daughters, Amy and Sara and lived on an acreage until moving to Waco, TX in 1988. In 1990 Jim, Jini and daughters moved to Las Cruces, NM where Jini taught school and Jim began Zemler Construction, where he worked until he retired.
Jim loved spending days camping in the mountains of CO and NM with his family, he belonged to a bowling team and was able to bowl even shortly before his death. He was a member of the Cross of Christ church choir and the Young at Heart singing group, and many times sang solos in church and while visiting the care centers in Las Cruces.
Jim had been receiving at home hospice care but passed away on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at the La Posada Hospice facility
Survivors include his two daughters, Amy and Sara, granddaughter, Serena; siblings, Edwin Zemler of Medical Lake, WA, Joan Remiger of Redwood Falls, MN, Sister Rosemary Zemler of Rochester, MN, Rita (Dale) Bunkers of Chester, SD, Richard (Irene) Zemler of Fergus Falls, MN, Donald (Marsha) Zemler of Sauk Centre, MN, and Margaret Heath of Rochester, MN. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Virginia, sister, Barbara Bunkers, brothers Fred and Thomas Zemler and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in law.
A memorial service will be held at Cross of Christ in Las Cruces, NM on July 22nd.
