In Memory of Jim Voss

1944-JIM VOSS-2018

Jim Voss, age 74, of Brewster, died Friday, December 14, 2018, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. He was born October 21, 1944, in Worthington, to Carl and Zelma (Moles) Voss. Jim graduated from Brewster High School in 1963. He served his country for two years in the U.S. Army; he was honorably discharged in April 1966.

   Jim married Kay Goering on June 18, 1966, at United Methodist Church in Worthington. After their marriage, they moved to the family farm where they lived all of their married lives. Jim farmed on the home place until 1980 when he started a full time rural carrier job with the post office. He worked with the post office until 2001 when he retired.

   He enjoyed conversation and would talk to almost anyone, even democrats. He loved fishing, trap shooting, shooting black powder guns, gardening and wintering in Donna Texas with Kay. He was a member of the Gun Club in Worthington.

   Jim is survived by his wife Kay, Brewster; two daughters, Jamie and Jodi Voss, both of Minneapolis; granddaughter, Breanna Voss, Minneapolis; and a brother, Ned Voss, Onalaska, WI.

   He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Voss and two sisters-in-law, Beverly and Shirley Voss.

   A time of fellowship will be from 5-7 pm Monday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington. A memorial service will be 10:00 am Tuesday at Grace Community Church in Worthington, officiated by Scott Barber.  A private family burial of cremains will be at a later date.
