Linda Sue Messenbrink was born on March 19, 1954 in Fulda, Minnesota to Floyd and Marian Herrmann Hanson. She grew up on a farm near Fulda until 1958 when the family moved to a farm near Dovray, MN where Linda attended Westbrook High School. On December 28, 1972 she and Thomas “Tom” Messenbrink Sr. were married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Westbrook, MN. Following their marriage they made their home in Colorado Springs, CO until 1975 when they moved to the Slayton area. Linda worked as a cook at the Country Host and later as an aid at Prairie View in Slayton. In 1992 they moved to a farm northeast of Avoca. Linda began selling Avon products as well as operating a house cleaning business. In June 2016 due to failing health Linda became a resident of REM Home in Marshall and in October 2016 she moved to Prairie Home Hospice in Marshall where she passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the age of 62. She was a member of Word of Faith Church in Avoca, MN. Linda enjoyed spending time with family, playing cards with her grandchildren, going to garage sales, bingo, and crocheting.
Survivors include her husband, Tom Messenbrink of Avoca, MN, three children and their spouses, Lisa and Everett Lingleo of Riverton, IL, Tom Jr. and Desiree Messenbrink of Sioux Falls, SD, and Miranda Messenbrink and Michael Lagg of Sioux Falls, SD; nine grandchildren; her mother, Marian Hanson of Tracy, MN, five siblings and their spouses, Ricky and Louise Hanson of Brooksville, FL, Gary and Julie Hanson of Currie, MN, Shirley and Butch Scarset of Westbrook, MN, Steven and Angela Hanson of Maplewood, MN, and Lee Hanson of Marshall, MN; mother-in-law, Berniece Olson of Westbrook, MN, two brothers-in-law, Scott Messenbrink and his wife, Judy of Pine, CO, and Leo Hofstadter of Currie, MN; and several nieces and nephews and their families. She is preceded in death by her father, Floyd Hanson, brother, Bruce Hanson, nephew, Nicholas “Nick” Hanson, father-in-law, Albert Messenbrink and one sister-in-law, Leslie Hofstadter.
Funeral Services will be held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Dovray, MN on Friday, December 2, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Bruce Berg officiating. The organist is Jenny Winter. The pallbearers are Austin Scarset, Alex Scarset, Dustin Knapper, Tommy Messenbrink, Macy Lingleo, Madison Lingleo and Brandon Hanson. Interment is at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in rural Avoca, MN.
