In memory of Michael Paulsen

1945-MICHAEL PAULSEN-2019

Michael Edward Paulsen, the son of Herman and Minnie (DeKruif) Paulsen, was born on December 8, 1945 in Sheldon, IA. He grew up in Sheldon and attended school. When Mike was finished with school he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed in Korea, Germany, England and various tours of duty in the U.S. Mike was married to Jean LeVeque in 1969. Two children were blessed to that union, Deborah Lynn and Michelle Ann. Jean passed away in 1982. Mike was honorably discharged from the Air Force after 20 years in 1983 as a Tec Sargent. Mike married Cheri Scarset in 1994 after they had met while they both worked at the Slayton Manor. Mike passed away on Friday, March 8, 2019 at his home in Fulda at the age of 73 years and 3 months. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and tinkering in his “Man Shed” with his machines. Mike was an avid sports fan, with football and car racing as his favorites. He was very precise in his mowing and no one else was permitted to do it. He had a wonderful bass voice, but nobody would ever know, as he didn’t like to sing in front of people. Mike was a good cook. His dry sense of humor helped Cheri get out of a lot of tough moments. He will be greatly missed.
