In memory of Phyllis Sieve

1921-PHYLLIS SIEVE-2017

Phyllis Lorriane Sieve passed away on March 1st, 2017 at the age of 95, in Maple Lawn Nursing Home in her hometown of, Fulda, Minnesota.  Her grandchildren Riley Dopler (Helena, Mt) and Kerry Jo Dopler  as well as her daughter,  Nancy Dopler (Red Lodge, Mt) were at her side as she passed.  She is preceded in death by her husband Laurence (Larry), daughter Catherine, and siblings Leona O’Brien, Robert (Bob), and Neva Reikow.

Phyllis had great community spirit and work ethic, especially for a woman of her era.  Her work career began with scooping ice cream in her teenage years.  After graduating Worthington high school she became a telephone operator. Phyllis married Laurence Sieve and later worked at Campbell’s Soup Company.  Her most rewarding job was working for the city as the water department clerk and later being chosen as an election judge for Murray County.

Phyllis enjoyed playing cards and listening to music throughout her life. She especially enjoyed listening to string instruments, particularly the fiddle an instrument her father played while she was growing up. An exceptional storyteller, Phyllis regaled her grandchildren and friends with detailed stories of life on the farm in the 1930’s, from attending town dances to crank start cars and syphoning gas, Phyllis carried with her a humor that was contagious.

She leaves behind many who will miss her especially her daughter Nancy.

Many Thanks to everyone who took time out of their day to spend with her, especially Mary & Darwin Sieve, Patti & Peggy O’Brien, Gen & Jeanne Sieve, Vicki & Karen Sieve, Peggy(Czepa) Oakland, Deb(Kuehl)Sabota, Gen Stewart, Slayton Hospice and the staff of Maple Lawn.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, June 10, 2017 at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Fulda with Msgr. R. Paul Heiting celebrating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
