Saturday, July 28th, is the day that the members of the Joseph Suding Post 386, Dundee, MN have set for their 100th year anniversary celebration. With the help from many area residents, the event will include a parade and a special program, along with many activities that will create memories for every one.
The post was named for Dundee barber, Joseph Arthur Suding, who was killed in action at 9 a.m. on the morning of November 1, 1918, just ten days before hostilities ended in France. World War I was a global war that originated in Europe. It lasted from 28 July 1914 to 11 November 1918. Joseph Suding was twenty-three years old when he lost his life in the Argonne Forest.
Suding was a private in Company K, 354th Infantry, 89th Division. He entered service on June 21, 1918, training at Camp Grant, Illinois, Camp Upton, New York. He departed overseas on September 10, 1918.
