Matt Kunerth, a Fulda High School alumni who is studying at South Dakota State University, Brookings, received an opportunity to study in Ecuador from September 7th to December 7th.

Kunerth is a member of the Delta Chi Fraternity at SDSU and was awarded a scholarship for the study abroad. The fraternity focuses on leadership, personal development and world travel. Past members of Delta Chi had studied with Mariana Leiton, a Spanish teacher who resides in Quito, Ecuador.

“I had studied Spanish in high school, but wanted to improve my abilities to speak Spanish,” Kunerth explained. “Mariana provides a full immersion program that enables students to study and live with an Ecuadorian family, quite like the international exchange students who come to study at Fulda High School.”
