Fulda lost 2 competitive games on the road this week, losing 7-2 at Pipestone and 9-4 at Adrian. Against Adrian on Friday, Fulda came out swinging hot bats. Garrett Johnson and Justin Dierks started the game with singles and Brady Kremer reached on a fielder’s choice. Brady Woldt and Kellen Johnson then hammered RBI singles to give Fulda a 2-0 lead.
Adrian answered with single runs in the 1st and 2nd inning before breaking the tie in the 4th on a hit, 2 walks, and 2 Fulda errors. Down 5-2, Fulda answered in the top of the 5th. After the first 2 batters of the inning were retired, Fulda rattled off 4 straight hits from Dierks, Kremer, Woldt, and Kellen Johnson, the last two knocking in runs, cutting the score to 5-4. Adrian used back to back hits to score in the bottom of the 5th before padding their lead with 3 runs in the 6th inning.
Kellen Johnson started on the mound for Fulda, throwing the first 5 innings. He gave up 6 runs (3 earned) on 3 hits. He struck out 10 Adrian batters, nearly half of the hitters to face in the game.
